Best Day Ever

We've been waiting for this day for a long time. Some people have waited 4 years for this day. Me? I've waited 2 years for something that's to happen today. Other things we've waited just a week.

It's Girl Scout Cookie Day!* Having not ordered Girl Scout Cookies since 2 years ago, I'm literally frothing at the mouth in anticipation of those overpriced bundles of goodness that come only once a year. It'll be a miracle if all 5 boxes make it home intact. Actually I plan on stashing a box and a half in my desk at work, but please don't tell my co-workers, the thieving selfish gits.

It's Boston Red Sox vs. Minnesota Twins Day! The first action vs. another Major Baseball League club today, the first new televised Red Sox game since the World Series last year.

It's Package Day! We are expected to receive up to 4 packages of things we've ordered in the past week. A bag for my new laptop, Sierra's big girl bed sheets and duvets, Sierra's birthday present, and Mrs. Redbeard's fixed MP3 player. As long as the missus doesn't have an elicit rendezvous tryst with the delivery guy, we're all set there.

It's Wear Your Winter Hat Indoors Day! Screw global warming, it's -10 F / -23 C here today, a record low that hasn't been seen on this day since 1980, quite abnormal for this late into February. And the girl scout cookie girl's car won't start because of it. Grrrrr.

It's Friday and it's Sunny! Absolutely nothing wrong with that except for the radiational cooling.

It's the last post of the month! Cheers for that one, I'm sure all my beloved readers are tired of me droning on and whining about every little thing. Vote Obama!

I think that's it. Did I forget anything as I'm prone to do in my advancing years?

It's Leap Year Day! I wonder if you're born on this day do you celebrate your birthday only every 4 years? If you're born on February 29, 1980, are you only 7 years old?

Also, we've finished Sierra's birthday movie last night. Grand premiere will be on April 6, 2008. We will roll out the red carpet so dress in your best Armanis and Versaces. Redbeard out.

P.S. Don't forget it's Dance Video Friday. In honour of Madge's nomination to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, here's a Madonna video. I am ashamed.

*[edited 10:30am 2/29/08] - No girl scout cookies today, must wait until Monday. Such is life.

How mean of "the universe" to taunt you with Girl Scout Cookies & then not deliver!! I don't know a single Girl Scout, but this is the one time of the year I don't mind someone sitting outside the grocery store exit, trying to get me to donate or buy something. I only managed to get my hands on one box of Thin Mints though. The last one. And all the Tag Alongs were gone. Woe is me. =(

Baseball!! Televised!! (well, sort of, as long as MLBtv counts) I did listen to the game against North Eastern last night though. Ah, the sweet sounds of Castiglione calling a game. Baseball season is really on its way. ::happy sigh::

Why is Girl Scout Cookie Day only once a year?

I look forward to the new film... do I need to wear proper shoes and everything? I'm accutomed to wandering round in my wellies.

Stephen, sorry 'bout the cookies, man.

But I'm watching a Red Sox game!!

I'm home too finally Ted and watching. Timlin looks like he's trimmed down some.

You can wear your wellies Jayne! The girl scouts only sell them once a year in their big cookie drive. Depending on where you live in America, they take the orders over a couple of weeks and then a month or 2 later the cookies arrive.

And once they're gone, they're gone until next year, they're not sold in stores, just by your local girl scout. The trick is you have to know a girl scout, or know someone who knows someone, etc.

Hmm, and I complain when the outside air temperature is cooler than my fridge...I'd better quit complaining!

At least I got my manbag for the laptop, and I got to use it on Saturday - took it to the laundromat on Saturday whilst doing the washing. It made the time pass ever so quickly. If only the laundromat had wi-fi, then we'd really be cooking with gas.

Your laundromat needs to get with the times already huh? ;-)

What kinds of cookies are you waiting on? I have the Tag Alongs, a box of Thin Mints and a box of Samoas. Yum. And did you know that Edy's ice cream also sells special edition flavors & the current ones are Girl Scout Cookie inspired? In those three flavors. I wonder if I have enough room in my freezer of a half gallon of each...

(1) Caramel delites (formerly Samoans)
(2) Peanut Butter Patties (my fav)
(1) Thin Mints (one sleeve each for me and Jess)
(1) something else I can't remember. I think it's the shortbread squares that have the fudge coating on top.

Mmmm... fudge coating. I like that almost as much as crunchy topping on a casserole. Or Mac N Cheese.
