The best way to catch a salt-water striped bass is to use a hot dog as bait. True story. The Girl's 8 year old cousin did it off the Maine coast earlier this year.

Stripper are pretty common down here too, however my biggest BASS (large mouthed, not a stripper... a true blue bass) was 5.4 lbs. What a beaut he was! Had all kinds of war wounds to show his age. Needless to say I let him go - couldn't kill a soldier like that one. I caught mine on a spinner bait, BTW. Never tried hot dogs....

Wow! That's a helluva fish! Even if it isn't a trout, it's a beauty.
