The kind of coffee I usually get coming into work wasn't available.
I slammed my hand into the counter.
Small potatoes, those are nothing compared to what's really troubling me.
This morning I've come to find out the co-worker who happens to sit next to me, a part-timer, passed away this weekend. He was only 22. What I didn't know was that he had a heart condition. It was quite sudden by all accounts. Also his mother works here full-time, also in my department, actually my partner-in-crime as I like to refer to her as we work together on most of our projects. The poor woman... I've known her for the last 2 1/2 years. Her son I've only known like a year, maybe less.
I'm still trying to take it all in and just get through the grieving process so if I seem a bit off in the next few days to come, please understand. Thanks.

How sad. I'm so sorry....there really isn't much to say in these situations, is there?
Redbeard, man am I sorry to hear that. Prayers and PV's to your co-worker, her family, and all his friends.
And of course to you as well.
Ah red, what a hell of a way to start the week, not that the timing means anything really. It's always tough when someone who is young passes away. Give that mom a hug for me, and take care. My condolences to ya'll.
I'm sorry to hear that, Redbeard.
That is hard.
Poor mom.
It is really hard to deal with when young people die.
Thanks everybody. As you probably know, I'm not a religious person but I think the family might be a little so thanks for your kind thoughts. I don't know why I said that about religion ... I guess since Ted mentioned prayers and some people believing in an afterlife. Anyway, here I go rambling, I'll shut up now.
I am sorry for your loss and pain, as well as the loss and pain of the young man's family. Probably the only thing you will be able to do, is let your partner in crime/now pain talk about it.
You will be in my thoughts this week.
I haven't talked with her yet. I know I won't have much in the way to offer her. If she wants to talk I will let her. I just want to give her a big hug, that's about all I can manage right now. I probably won't see her until Wednesdya at the calling hours. I have no idea when she'll be back into work. September at best.

That's really sad. So young. His poor mother. I'm so sorry.
Oh dear...I'm so sorry!!
that's not easy. hope you're holding up okay. sorry for your loss, and sorry for your friend's family's loss. ::sends cyber hug::
Dreadful news, and such a shock for everyone. If you want to give his mother a big hug, just do it. Not everyone wants to talk, but just being there for her will be enough to let her know how much you care.
Redbeard,
Just LISTENING to the Mom will be a huge help to her! Trust me on this...I know firsthand.
Ok, I'm starting to sort of dread going to see the family come 5 o'clock today - I know as soon as I see Misty I'm going to lose my shit...
Ok Stephen, keep it together... deep breath.
That is really shocking - he was so young! I am so sorry Redbeard, what a horrible piece of news to deal with.
